domain services

Domains
Setting up a domain name or Web address is simple once you've registered it. Word-Builder can register your address for you or you can do it. If we do it, it will cost $9.95, a one time fee payable with your first month's or annual fee for hosting. Word-Builder will set up your domain for you free of charge after it has been registered. You can begin adding files the same day.

Subdomains
Subdomains are additional names you can create via the Plesk control panel that point to sudirectories within your Web space. If your site is called yoursite.com, you can create unlimited subdomains, such as sales.yoursite.com, support.yoursite.com, etc.

Domain Parking
Domain parking is a process whereby you create additional Web addresses in Plesk that point to your Web space, giving you the ability to serve the same content under different domain names. You can create an unlimited number of parked domains. yoursite.com might also be served as apples.com, oranges.net, etc., provided you've registered the names.

Dedicated Static IP Address
For Basic, Developer and E-Business accounts, Word-Builder will create a dedicated static IP address for your site. This is the numeric address that maps to your domain name. All Web sites have an IP address, though most of them share IP's with other sites. A dedicated IP assures you that no one else is being served pages with the same IP.

Shared Static IP Address
While shared IP addresses are static, they also have multiple Web sites mapped to them. Protocols of Internet name space mandate that whenever possible domain names must share IP addresses. Word-Builder sustains sites per IP address at an optimum number and reviews the nature and traffic of sites running via shared IP's.
